DOMA – One year later…

It is June, and that means LGBT Pride.  This year, we will be celebrating one year old the twin decisions of striking down Section 3 of the Defense of Marriage Act, also known as DOMA and a ruling which paved the way for Proposition 8 to fall in California.  No doubt about it, the United States vs Windsor case was a landmark case.

It was a tense period. I remember it like it was yesterday.  My partner and I woke up early to turn on the television promptly at 7:00.  For we were in California and it was 10:00 am on the East Coast.  And then the news came out.  We were hoping for a sweeping decision but were prepared for the worst.
