Voice of Transitioning Male to Female

Hello Dear Readers,

It has been a long time since I have last blogged and I do apologize for that, but life happens and I know you guys will appreciate that.  So much has happened since my last blog.  I have been promoted into management at my current job.  I have been working to reconcile some of my hang-ups from the past and have made great progress.  I am entering my last year of school and will finally have my bachelor’s degree by the end of the year.

One of the many things that I have been working on is my self-identity.  I have claimed the identifier of male-to-female trans-individual for the last couple of years and have really dug deep inside myself to find out who I am.  I have struggled a bit trying to find a happy resolution between that identity and how I define that label.  Many…

By Susana Mas, CBC News, Nov 25, 2014

Three Western Treaty First Nations say they will “resist” the federal government’s order to comply with the financial transparency act by tomorrow or risk losing federal funding.

The government tells CBC News that 84 First Nations bands have until Wednesday to post their audited financial statements for the last fiscal year, including the salaries and expenses of their chiefs and councillors. The grand majority — 498 out of 582 First Nations bands — have complied.

Why Ferguson Is Helping Me Leave The Country

Voice of the African American Female

Another straw on the back of the camel.  Another not guilty verdict that was predictable.  No, I couldn’t tell you not one detail in this case, why?  Because the day this kid was shot, I was in South America and I basically said there would be no guilty verdict in this case.  Why bother watching it, why bother learning the details when you know the outcome before the charges are even brought?

Somehow or another the shooting of a young black man for any reason seems to still manage to become justifiable, debatable and in order to get justice as in the case of Jordan Davis, there had to be a second trial.  The fella that killed him,, shot into a parked car filled with teenagers because their music was too loud and the jury hung on a murder charge?  Well, he was standing his ground therefore a decision was…

She just quietly called him….Dad.

Profound words from a Survivor of Incest.

Survivor of Incest

Little girl, only girl surrounded by men. In a world of confusion a war she can’t win. Each night brought her terror as the touches began. Words and whispers she couldn’t begin to comprehend. Years would pass as she learned to hide. Her fears, her shame, seething deep inside. What angered her the most as the years saw her grow. …. The silent acceptance of family and knowing that they know. The stares of her step mom, the shame she still carries …..all rock this woman to sleep at night. Memories she can’t bury. Each day as she awakened, hiding bruises and her pain. Vowing to run where he can’t find her, even maybe changing her name. But you see that never happened, her revenge would have to wait. Others would continue to hurt her, he had constructed an incestuous gate. She bowed but never fell, she was too young…

Rape – It is no laughing matter

New blog up by our Political and Current Events Blogger. Check it out! 😉

Politics and Current Events

A few weeks ago, in anger, I said something that was very raw and insensitive. I used the word rape when I should not have used it. It was used in a crude reference, something that would be used in anger, but that no rational, logical, thoughtfully cerebral person would do.

The truth is that I am human and I let my emotions get the best of me because someone else and a class of people were being taken advantage of. I am not trying to defend, nor offer an excuse – simply trying to help one (me especially) understand.

Rape is no laughing matter. Here we express outrage and change because of a recent increase in the number of rapes done to women on college campuses. According to Department of Justice statistics, one in five college students…
